About Elliott
Elliott Goodridge MRICS
Chartered Building Surveyor, Goodridges Surveying
Elliott is an independent Chartered Building Surveyor. He started his career
in construction working on building sites alongside his studies, graduated in
Building Surveying from the University of Brighton in 2018 and has been a
chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 2021.
He joined a large multi-disciplinary construction consultancy on placement
in 2017, returned after graduating and was promoted to Associate Director in
2022. He has acted as lead consultant to the London Boroughs of Brent and
Lewisham, managing their refurbishment and minor works frameworks and has
been the main point of contact for national brands including Domino's Pizza
and Heineken.
He has surveyed everything from Tudor buildings to new build, but period
property is his specialism, particularly Victorian and Edwardian houses. He
looks at a building as a whole rather than as a list of faults. Damp is the
clearest example. It exists in almost every period property and it is
something to understand and manage, not something to fear.
That is why Elliott set up on his own. Friends kept asking him to look over
surveys they had paid thousands of pounds for and too often the reports were
generic and alarming, written to cover the surveyor rather than to inform the
buyer. They diagnosed nothing, worried everyone and cost people the house
they wanted. His reports tell you what is actually wrong, what it is likely to
cost and what you can safely leave alone.
